Utility Information

The City of Gunnison purchases power from Western Area Power Administration and the Nebraska Municipal Power Pool. Gunnison has the third lowest electric rates in the State. To hook up natural gas service call Atmos Energy at 1.888.442.1313. As required by law, the City belongs to a Utility Locate Service. The locate service must be contacted 48 hours prior to the individual or contractor digging on the City right-of-way or utility easement. This allows the City utilities to be safely located PRIOR to digging and thus avoid possible damage to not only the utilities but also to the person digging.

Utilities The City of Gunnison Provides Electric, water, sewer, trash, and recycling service to residents within the city limits. The City also provides electric service for selected customers outside the city limits. The Public Works department handles the recycling and refuse pick up. The pickup schedule is available in PDF format located below. To get utility service put in your name you will need to contact the Finance office to complete a utility application and pay the applicable deposit. A deposit and a signed Customer Authorization Form is required if you are renting a property or purchasing a mobile home. The utility application and authorization form is available in PDF format located below. The deposit depends on the address of the property and starts at $50. Utility bills may be paid by automatic bank draft. The Direct Payment Plan allows you to have your utility bill payment made automatically from your savings or checking account. The enrollment form and information is available in PDF format located below. The City is not set up to accept credit card payments at this time. If you can't pay your utility bill or sales tax during normal business hours we have a drop slot in our north door facing Virginia St. We also have a drop box located at the courtesy counter in City Market.
