Refuse & Recycle
The refuse and recycling crew collects and disposes the City's refuse and recyclables. Refuse disposal is at the County-owned landfill located 6 miles east of Gunnison on Highway 50 (641.5522). Recyclables are taken to the County Recycling Center for transport. By Ordinance, all citizens pay for this once a week refuse and recycling collection service. Commercial establishments have the option to contract for City Refuse Service Large items, not picked by the scheduled service, can be picked up for an additional fee by calling the public Works Department at 970.641.8020. - Parking Enforcement & Towing: If a vehicle is left on a City street and not moved for 48 hours IT WILL BE TOWED!!! If it snows, vehicle MUST BE MOVED within 24 hours! This includes all street north of the airport. To avoid personal, pedestrian & auto damage DO NOT drive through snow windrows!
