Complete Streets Update

The last Complete Streets recommendation meeting with City Council occured in July of 2016.  At the that time the project was reduced to two key crossings on Highway 50 / Tomichi Avenue.  Those crossings are located at the Jorgensen / Legion Park and on 11th Street.

The City has been awarded a Federal Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) Grant through the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT). 
The City applied for two TAP grants and was awarded both grants on October 18, 2016.  The first project is for the US Highway 50 Crossings which includes two crosswalks: the first being a crossing at Jorgensen and Legion Parks, the second crossing is located at 11th Street.  The second grant is for planning the West Gunnison US Highway 50 Design Project.

Federal funding will available in 2018 through 2020 and the first project will be the Jorgensen and Legion Park Crossing.  The TAP Grant is up to $317,444 in Federal funding ($79,361 in City Funding) for the Crossings Project and $128,000 in Federal funding ($32,000 in City Funding) for the West Gunnison Design Project.
