City of Gunnison Fire Department

The Gunnison volunteer Fire Department (GVFD) is a full service fire department that functions with 40 volunteers and provides fire and rescue coverage throughout Gunnison County and parts of Saguache County, with the exclusion of the Crested Butte Fire Protection District. The GunnisonFire Protection District service area is 3,300 square miles. The GVFD provides fire suppression for structural and wildland fires as well as rescue service for vehicles and structures. Fire safety education, fire investigations and inspections are handled through the Fire Marshal's Office.
