REFUSE SERVICE & INFORMATION
Notice:
- The City of Gunnison will pick up Christmas Trees from City residents beginning Jan. 9th, 2009. Please remove all lights, ornaments, decorations etc. & place it by your trash cans. County residents may take their tree to the Tree Dump, located on County Rd 51. If the gate is closed, place tree by the side of the gate so the road remains clear. Call Public Works with any questions at 970.641.8020.

The City of Gunnison provides regular refuse and recycling collection services on a one time a week schedule. All City residents pay for this service. This is some information to help you successfully use the City-provided refuse and recycling collection services. A FEW DO'S AND DO NOT'S FOR YOUR REGULAR TRASH
- DO place your refuse in the alley behind your house. If you don't have an alley, call us!
- DO place all of your refuse in regular - 32 gal. sized trash cans with lids. Cans weighing over 50 pounds will not be emptied.
- DON'T place refuse in boxes or bags on the ground. All too often they get spread all over the alleys making a mess for all of us. Refuse outside of regulation cans will not be removed or will be removed at an extra cost to the resident.
- DO get your refuse out early - by 8 AM. DO bundle small bunches of limbs and branches. Bundles should not exceed 4 feet long or weigh more than 40 pounds. The City makes available a free "summertime" tree/grass dump. Call for details 641-8020.
- DON'T place liquids, motor oil, tires, paint, car batteries, pesticides, or weed killer in the regular refuse. Call 641-5522 to get help with disposal of these types of materials.
- DON'T place building materials, appliances, rocks or other large items in your refuse.
