Wastewater Treatment Plant & Lab
The Wastewater Treatment Plant is located three miles west of Gunnison at 524 County Road 32 and is surrounded by an airport mitigation wet lands study area. The Plant is a 4.2 MGD extended air activated sludge process services the Gunnison and Dos Rios living area. The 98% efficiency of the plant return water to the Gunnison River at a higher quality than is in the river, thereby not impacting the sportsman's environment that exists. The City of Gunnison Water Laboratory, located at the Wastewater Treatmeny Plant serves the surrounding basin from Montrose to Monarch and from Mt. Crested Butte to Saguache and Lake City. The laboratory measures the efficiency of wastewater facilities from local municipalities and tests drinking water wells samples for anyone who needs to ensure potablioty. The lab also works with governmental entities such as the USGS, USFS, USPS,BLM and DOW on various bacteriological procedures. If wells need testing call 970.641.8042.
