Child Safety Seat Information for Inspections & Loans
Did you know that close to 90% of child safety seats are installed incorrectly? When they are used correctly, child safety seats are 70% effective in preventing fatalities, 67% effective in preventing serious injuries, and 50% effective in preventing injuries in car crashes
To help make sure children are traveling safely, the Gunnison Police Department has a Child Safety Seat Loaner Program for low income residents and visitors to Gunnison County.
If a parent needs a child safety seat, we can loan one for children from birth to 60 pounds, for little or no cost. We also loan seats for people that are on vacation or have relatives staying here from out-of-town.
If your not sure if your child safety seat is installed right, we will inspect it to make sure it's not under recall and teach you to install it correctly.
