City Clerk  Information

Our town is managed by a Council/Manager form of government. There are five elected council members chosen at large throughout the City. The City Council meets every Tuesday night at 7:00PM in the Council Chambers of City Hall. The second and fourth Tuesdays are Regular Sessions. A regular session is the only session in which the City Council may take any official action. Work Sessions, if needed, are held the first & third Tuesday of every month or prior to the Regular Session. Our City Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations of our City, while the City Clerks office serves as the clerk to the City Council, the custodian of City ordinances, resolutions and records and provides election administration and the management of alcoholic beverage licensing.

Clerk Responsibilities:

Alcoholic Beverage Licensing

The City Council is the local licensing authority for any type of liquor license. The City Clerk is responsible for coordinating both the two-tier (local and state) licensing of establishments that sell and/or serve alcoholic beverages within the city limits. This process is highly regulated. Anyone wanting to obtain a new liquor license in the City of Gunnison, should contact the City Clerk at least 90 days before the opening of the establishment to allow for processing time. For Special Events Liquor Licenses, at least 45 days should be allowed.
